Welcome to: Manitoba SAR DOG The Province of Manitoba Search and Rescue Dog Association The Province of Manitoba SAR Dog Association is an Association that represents all of the professional and volunteer Search and Rescue dog teams in the province. These Dog teams are also part of the (SARMAN) Search and Rescue Manitoba Volunteer Association.                     ________________________________________________________ Mission Statement: With the use of well trained and certified K-9 teams, the Province of Manitoba SAR Dog Association is dedicated to enhancing the ground search and rescue capabilities in our province. The Association was founded to unite all of the Search and Rescue Dog teams in the province and have them operate under one umbrella. These professional and volunteer Search and Rescue Dog teams train together to prepare for individual missing person searches, as well as larger scale disasters. As an Association, these members also take part in other related community activities that promote "staying safe in the outdoors" and "animal welfare".  _______________________________________________________________ Background: The Search and Rescue Manitoba Volunteer Association (SARMAN) has been assisting the Police Agencies in the Province with their Search and Rescue responsibilities for many years. The Province of Manitoba SAR Dog Association was formed by the Canine teams within that organization. Our SAR Dog Association includes both the Professional SAR Dog teams in the province along with the SARMAN volunteer Canine teams.  A well trained search and rescue dog team can cover a large area in a very short period of time.  A search and rescue dog uses their well trained noses to help locate people, making them a great asset in heavy bush and other types of difficult and challenging terrain. ______________________________________________________________ National SAR Dog Association (NSARDA): The Province of Manitoba SAR Dog Association members, are also part of a National Association of Search and Rescue Dog handlers that was recently established. By being part of the National Association, our members can unite and share their passion for Search and Rescue dog training with their counterparts from across Canada.
